Holocaust Memorial Day

The 27th of January marks Holocaust Memorial Day. As part of the commemoration of Holocaust Memorial Day, I wrote to all secondary schools across Airdrie and Shotts to share educational resources from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust as well as signing the Holocaust Education Trust Book of Commitment.

It is vital that we continue to educate our children about atrocities such as the Holocaust and more recent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. To ensure that such crimes against humanity do not happen again.

As we commemorated those who lost their lives to genocide, I hope that schools across the constituency took the opportunity to pass on the resources for pupils to use, as we continue to work toward a society free of prejudice and hatred, and a future free of genocide.
